Connect Kilo Code to Synap

3 steps · about 2 minutes

  1. Get a free key

    Sign in with Google at synap.linkrra.com — no card. Your key starts with sk-pool-.

  2. Add Synap to kilo.json

    The CLI reads providers from ~/.config/kilo/kilo.json. In VS Code: Settings → Providers → Custom provider, with the same base URL, key and model.

    { "provider": { "synap": {
        "npm": "@ai-sdk/openai-compatible",
        "name": "Synap",
        "options": {
          "baseURL": "https://synap.linkrra.com/v1",
          "apiKey": "{env:SYNAP_API_KEY}" },
        "models": { "qwen3-coder-30b": {} } } } }
  3. Give it a job

    Name the Synap model you just added.

    kilo run -m synap/qwen3-coder-30b "your task"
Notes, prices and limits

A custom OpenAI-compatible provider. Kilo reads the model list itself. Recommended model: qwen3-coder-30b — $0.0675 in and $0.27 out per 1M tokens, 98,304-token context.

Kilo fetches the model list from /v1/models, which needs no key. If the list comes back empty, press Fetch models or type the id.

On the free tier: every request counts input and output against 100,000 free tokens a day, and answers stop at 4,096 output tokens. Coding agents send long prompts, so the free tier covers a short session; credits cover the rest.

Recorded with the Kilo CLI, which reads the same custom-provider settings as the extension.

Field names from Kilo Code docs: OpenAI-compatible providers, checked 2026-10-31 22:40 UTC. Prices refresh from /v1/models when this page loads.
